THE 15TH ANNUAL TRI-STATE ASBO CONFERENCE
May 9-11, 2007

< Previous page

Following lunch, a General Session, attended by most of our participants, reviewed the new 403B regulations. Rob Nadeau and Brenda Sabin brought us up to date on what is emerging as a major concern to School Business Officials. While final regulations had not yet been released, we learned what we might be faced with in the future administration of 403B plans. (NOTE: 403B is a major focus of the upcoming 2008 Tri-State ASBO conference in Stowe, VT)

The rest of the afternoon was spent with vendors, several of whom were new to our conference. The facility allowed us a wonderful space where we could spend time with those businesses that are so crucial to the running of school districts. The vendors play an important role in the Annual Conference. Without their support we could not offer the variety of learning experiences we do each year. It was gratifying to see how many of our attendees spent time at the vendor exhibit. The reception and raffles were another highlight of the day.

The evening ended with our annual banquet. Erin Green of ASBO International addressed the group and encouraged us to continue to expand our membership in ASBO International. She complimented the northern New England States for their active participation in many of the International programs.

Student entertainment was provided by Elm Street Beat, a group of students from the Elm Street School in Manchester—a great example of the talents of young people today.

Following the banquet, there was dancing and a wonderful opportunity for socializing with colleagues. As it was billed it turned out to be truly
“A TIME TO CELEBRATE, PERIOD”.

Friday morning began with another treat, student entertainment at breakfast provided by the Hopkinton Jazz Band from nearby Hopkinton High School. From there we headed to a variety of self-improvement workshops. Jude Cyr, a Tri-State Conference committee member presented “PACE”, a program to help you discover your own patterns and gain a better understanding of the temperaments of others. It was an enjoyable hour of learning about the way we interact with others.
